I’m sharing this because I believe in the importance of speaking out and because no one should have to experience what I went through.

أنا أشارك قصتي لأنني أؤمن بأهمية الكلام والمواجهة، ولأن لا أحد يجب أن يمر بما مررت به.

English:
Recently, I was sexually harassed in the streets of Egypt by a man driving a car. I was on a phone call when it happened, which made it difficult for me to capture any evidence like the car’s license plate or a photo of him.

Arabic:
مؤخرًا، تعرضت لتحرش جنسي في شوارع مصر من قبل رجل يقود سيارة. كنت أتحدث في الهاتف وقتها، ولم أتمكن من تصوير السيارة أو التقاط رقم اللوحة أو صورة له.

English:
This man began by swearing at me, calling me vile names like “daughter of a bitch.” He then made disgusting sexual gestures using his face and hands.

Arabic:
بدأ الرجل بشتمي بألفاظ بذيئة، ووصفني بأوصاف مهينة مثل “بنت كذا”. ثم بدأ يقوم بإيحاءات جنسية مقززة باستخدام وجهه ويديه.

English:
I confronted him and told him what he was doing was wrong. I even shouted in the street, trying to call attention to what was happening. Instead of backing off, he escalated.

Arabic:
واجهته وقلت له إن ما يفعله خطأ وغير مقبول. وصرخت في الشارع لألفت الانتباه لما يحدث، لكنه لم يتراجع، بل زاد من تهجمه.

English:
He started following me with his car. He tailed me all the way to the building where I live, and I felt terrified.

Arabic:
بدأ يتتبعني بسيارته، ولحقني حتى وصلت إلى مدخل المبنى الذي أعيش فيه. شعرت بخوف شديد.

English:
As if that weren’t enough, he shouted graphic, violent threats at me saying things like he would “put his dick in my pussy.” At one point, he even tried to hit me with his car.

Arabic:
وكأن ما فعله لم يكن كافيًا، بدأ يصرخ بتهديدات جنسية صريحة وعنيفة، وقال ألفاظًا مقززة مثل: “هحط زبي في كسك”. وفي لحظة، حاول أن يصطدم بي بسيارته.

English:
This was not just harassment—it was stalking, verbal assault, and a threat to my safety.

Arabic:
ما حدث لم يكن مجرد تحرش، بل كان مطاردة واعتداء لفظي وتهديد مباشر لأمني وسلامتي.

English:
I’m sharing this not just to release what I’ve been carrying, but to remind people that this happens every day. In Egypt, and in many places around the world, street harassment is still so normalized that women often feel helpless, unsupported, and unsafe.

Arabic:
أنا أشارك قصتي ليس فقط لأفرغ ما بداخلي، ولكن لأُذكر الناس أن هذا يحدث كل يوم. في مصر وفي دول كثيرة، أصبح التحرش في الشارع أمرًا معتادًا لدرجة أن النساء يشعرن بالعجز وعدم الأمان.

English:
No one deserves to be treated like this. No one should have to fear walking home. I hope that by speaking out, others will feel less alone and that we will continue pushing for accountability, justice, and real change in our communities.

Arabic:
لا أحد يستحق أن يُعامل بهذه الطريقة. لا أحد يجب أن يخاف من مجرد العودة إلى المنزل. آمل أن كلامي يساعد آخرين على الشعور بأنهم ليسوا وحدهم، وأن نستمر في المطالبة بالمحاسبة والعدالة والتغيير الحقيقي في مجتمعنا.
